What All Successful Women Do at the Beginning of the Year

We all enter the New Year with an abundance of energy, enthusiasm, and drive, but that momentum can wane rapidly once we return to our usual work-life routine. Resolutions are great for getting back on track or making small changes to your life, but if you really want to realize your dreams by year-end and maintain that initial drive, you have to set some crystal-clear goals. While the concept of goal-setting isn’t new, most of us forget how crucial the process is to actually accomplish them.

Katherine Power, our very own Clique Brands CEO, does this at the beginning of every year. In an Instagram post, she wrote: “At the start of each year I write my goals down on note paper, big and small. The key is to check in with your list 1x per week. What are you starting today? What do you want to make happen this year? You have 361 days left, make each one count. Today could be the start of something great.”

According to a study by psychology professor Gail Matthews, PhD, at Dominican University, people who write down their goals accomplish much more than those who don’t. Celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkins is also a goal-writing devotee. “I’m a huge believer in writing down your next year’s goals and have done it since I was little,” she wrote on Instagram. “Personal, professional, Health, etc. Check in with yourself every three months and I promise you really will thank yourself.”
