For designer Rosa Beltran, what started as a simple request for a custom-made midcentury-modern sofa turned into a whole-home redesign. Beltran’s client, a 30-something architect who has a deep appreciation of design, architecture, and downtown Los Angeles’s cultural resurgence, was so impressed with the designer’s ability to deliver that she ended up giving Beltran carte blanche to redesign her one-bedroom loft in a local vintage industrial building. Despite the home’s hard edges, concrete surfaces, and steel details, Beltran created a cozy and inviting space through a variety of texture, material, and smart space planning.
